British Library hold a volume of baptisms, marriages and burials post 1947 under reference N4. There are not a huge amount of entries but definitely worth a look. There may be a burial record amongst BACSA archives held at British Library http://www.bacsa.org.uk/ . There may be mention of the death in the Times of India – digitised at British Library. His death may be recorded amongst occupational records…

I am not sure where you would find court transcript but trial may have been covered in Times of India which has been digitised by PROQUEST historic newspapers – British Libraray have access in reading rooms. I found good coverage of an ancestor’s trial altho proceedings were not word for word.

It is interesting to hear that Andrea has visited the cemetery and that it was well kept and she was able to gain access. It would be lovely to see the photos which have not appeared here – are you able to email them to me – [email protected]

Hi there …my ancestors also buried at this cemetery – unfortunately I have not visited. I have a letter from the priest there which verifies the grave ..it reads as if the cemetery is adjacent to the church as the grave is on the left hand side “as you enter St Johns Church by the north gate”

Hi – are you enjoying it ? I have bought it but not yet read it. There is a favourable review on the fibiwiki which is a shortened version of the fuller review found in FIBIS journal 15. (https://www.fibis.org/forums/topic/holmes-sahib-the-british-soldier-in-india/)

Hello. There are a lot of military records at National Archives and only a selection will appear on Findmypast. Which records are you specifically trying to find? can you give an example?

As John Kennedy was an officer, I would be inclined to trace his career via the annual Indian Army Lists.

Hi there – what exactly are you trying to find out. Are you wanting details about the man or his descendants? If about the man himself – have you looked at familysearch and findmypast websites? His marriage, baptisms of children and details of estate inventory/administration at death are all online …
    Best wishes Beverly

Yes! I read this some time ago and found it interesting. Didn’t realise it was a trilogy – shall look out the other titles.

Presumably you have been unable to find the marriage of Frances C A Hughes and Emma? What was his occupation? When and where were the children baptised? These facts might give some pointers as to where his marriage might have taken place. Beverly

Hi there – where have you looked? The L/Mil series are usually very good for HEIC soldiers .
