    My great, great grandfather died in Cawnpore some time between 1951-1956. Does anyone know how details of deaths in this post Independence period can be found, please?

    British Library hold a volume of baptisms, marriages and burials post 1947 under reference N4. There are not a huge amount of entries but definitely worth a look. There may be a burial record amongst BACSA archives held at British Library http://www.bacsa.org.uk/ . There may be mention of the death in the Times of India – digitised at British Library. His death may be recorded amongst occupational records…

    Hi Beverly. I am not very good at finding my way around the FIBIS pages. I have only just come across your response from a year ago! Thank you. Talking to another member, I have since learned that Catholic records weren ‘t always collected …this might answer a lot of the mysteries surrounding my family records.
