Personal Research Services (FIBIS Members)

FIBIS provide general guidance and advice to members relating to family history matters. Online searches are also offered to those members who are unfamiliar with available resources or those who have difficulty with using electronic aids.

In addition, the FIBIS research team offer a limited personal research service into British India family history records held in British Library or other London Archives to those of its members who are unable to access records due to distance or disability. There is no charge at all for time but the team do ask that researcher expenses are covered. (Please note that this service is dependant on availability of volunteers). Email research@fibis.org

Research Advice

FIBIS does not have the resources to undertake research for the general public but would be pleased to offer some general advice to further your search. Please email your query to [email protected]

Please note that a brief introduction to research can be found in the Beginners’ Guide in the fibiwiki .

FIBIS also publishes some useful guides – Baxters Guide being an invaluable starting point.
