BeverlyParticipant
Hi there ..have you resolved your photo problem?
BeverlyParticipantHi there – have accessed record but no background clues at all. In fact, only a passing mention. Shall email text over to you. B
BeverlyParticipantThere may be mention of him in the British Library in the records of the Home Establishment. Have you looked in Baxters to see if you can identify a possible source.
BeverlyParticipantOne way could be to do a search on medal rolls in the British Library catalogue.

BeverlyParticipantHello – interesting post. Possible that yr ancestor was with Wolfe as Matthew Leslie who features in my own tree was with him in Quebec as Assistant Qtr Master General. Leslie had a medical background and there is some thought he may have also been witness to Wolfe’s death. I haven’t access to my notes right now but I believe he was left a ring by Wolfe in his will as remembrance. I seem to think Leslie was in the 44th regt – but would have to check. Afterwards Leslie joined the Bengal army and rose to Lt Col. He died in 1778. As Fibis research co-ordinator, I am often in the BL and shall try to access the record to which you refer within the next two or three weeks. Beverly
BeverlyParticipantShall look forward to developments!
