    I was puzzled by an entry in the cause of death column on a 1904 burial record for a distant relative, Thomas Fraser SHELVERTON. ‘Buried by police order”.
    Does anyone have any idea what this means? I was a little concerned as I found a similar one that had the cause of death as “hanging buried by police order”.
