I am seeking biographical information about Charles Manningham who I have seen reported as serving as Governor of Bengal c1756. He is named by surname only in the two articles about the Black Hole of Calcutta in editions 1&2 of the Journal. He married a daughter of Colonel Charles Hutchinson of the EIC who was Lieutenant Governor and subsequently Governor of St Helena (1747-1764). His other two daughters are reputed to have married Eyre Coote and Sir Richard Boyd. Neither of these two gentlemen have entries in ONDB.

Manningham was clearly back in London (Westminster) in 1762 when his first child was baptised and he lived at Dorking, Surrey and subsequently Thorp, Surrey until his death in 1797.

Any information would be gratefully received including suggestions for areas of research.
