On Thursday, Ancestry.comâ„¢ announced that they will no longer sell Y-DNA and mtDNA tests. Additionally, the results from past Y-DNA and mtDNA tests will no longer be available after September 5, 2014.
As there is also no guarantee on what the future holds for Ancestry.com’sâ„¢ autosomal DNA offering, it might be worthwhile for those of you that have tested with Ancestry.comâ„¢ to consider transferring Y-DNA and Autosomal DNA test results to Family Tree DNA where their main focus is genetic genealogy and FIBIS have a DNA project. mtDNA is not transferable because of compatibility issues.
