The next India Bungalow meeting will be an opportunity to learn, share and be enthused about researching British India ancestors.
Saturday 14 November 10am to 3pm
1st Floor Function Room
85 Airedale Street
Auckland CBD 1010
The keynote speaker will be Dr Robyn Andrews on “Those who stayed”. Her research on the Anglo-Indians in Calcutta will provide insights as to what our lives might have been like today had our ancestors chosen to stay on in India.
Ian Clarke, author of “ The bungalow at No. 2 Riverside Road†set in pre-Independence Bengal, will speak in the afternoon on the topic of “ Writing about the British in Indiaâ€.
At the Q&A session, our pool of research expertise will help with ‘brickwalls’. There will also be a bookstall, plenty of time for conversation about how your family history research is progressing, and the opportunity to discuss Robyn’s current research on “ The invisible Indian : the Anglo-Indian diaspora in NZ†.
Lunch will be shared (please contribute a plate of fingerfood if you are able)
