Theatre 3 – Researching ancestors in British India

Over three million Britons lived in India over the three and a half centuries of British involvement in that country. The great majority of these served as civil servants, soldiers, engineers, railwaymen, etc. helping to build and maintain the country as it grew as an important world power in the 20th century.

Peter Bailey will outline the records, their location and methods available for tracing ancestors who lived in British India and South Asia from 1600 until Independence in 1947.
