FIBIS Blog
FIBIS are pleased to announce that our hardworking international team of volunteers have now completed transcribing all the birth, marriage and death entries reported in the Times of India newspaper for all the 19th century editions. This has been quite difficult for them at times due to the poor quality of some of the images the volunteers have had to work from. We have been fortunate that in these cases that FIBIS member, John Gannon, has stepped in and obtained copies from the University of Cambridge Centre of South Asian Studies. In fact the year 1896 and the second half of 1898 was not available to our overseas volunteers in any shape or form, so we have been very grateful for the great job done by John Gannon at Cambridge in obtaining images for our volunteers to work from. Many entries were still very difficult to read, but our volunteers have completed the majority of them by referring to alternative sources. We are also grateful to University of Cambridge Centre of South Asian Studies for their help and cooperation.
