Lectures uploaded to FIBIS Social Network this weekend

15 Jul | News,

This weekend the following three video recordings of lectures were uploaded to the FIBIS Social Network.

  • “ Buccaneers of Empire – stories of an Indo-Chinese Trading Family in the 19th Century”, by Miles Macnair
  • “ For Allah created the English mad – the maddest of all mankind” (Rudyard Kipling 1898): British psychiatrists and their patients, treatments and hospitals in colonial India, by Mike Young
  • “Major Sources for Ancestors in the Indian Public Services”  by Lawrie Butler, former FIBIS trustee and Research Officer. Lawrie has extended his already significant experience of the records of British India by researching the various records of the Indian Civil Services. Hitherto, “ Uncovenanted Civil Servants” have tended to be given a lower profile than their ‘Covenanted ‘ superiors. Lawrie explains how to research the former in particular.
