Lucknow to Lahore – Fred Bremner ‘s Vision of India

6th October 2012 − 7th April 2013

Spanning forty years, from 1882 to 1922,  Lucknow to Lahore  will explore the particular vision of Fred Bremner, a Scottish commercial photographer. Bremner ‘s travels in the Indian subcontinent are recorded in these spectacular photographs.

Through Bremner ‘s eyes we invite the visitor to get a sense of the people and places of Imperial India. Using his words, the exhibition brings to life individual experiences and opinions about ‘that far-off land known as the Indian Empire ‘.

Sheila Asante, Migration Stories Curator, gives an insight into this photographic display which explores the work of commercial photographer, Fred Bremner, and his forty years working on the Indian subcontinent.
