FIBIS Spring Open Meeting 2015

Please note that the next FIBIS Spring Open Meeting 2015 is to be held at the “ Resource for London” at 356, Holloway Road, London N7 6PA on Saturday 23 May 2015.

The Meeting is open to all interested in the study of British India whether or not they are members of FIBIS. The Centre will be open from 9.00 a.m. and the programme will be as follows:

Programme

09.30 -12.00  – “ Surgery”. Come with your questions or “ brick walls” in researching your Ancestors.
12.00  – Break for Lunch. There is a café on the premises for light lunches.
13.00  –  Gather for the Meeting.
13.15 –  Introduction and lecture on  “ The Railways of Burma – Their Development and their Personnel”  by Dr. Mike Charney,  Reader in South East Asian & Imperial History  at the School of Oriental & Asian Studies, London University.
14.30 – Break for Tea & “ Networking”.
15.30 –  “ Tales from Tombstones.”  These are particularly rich sources of family history data by Dr. Rosie Llewellyn-Jones, MBE,  council member of The Royal Asiatic Society and formerly  Secretary of British Association for Cemeteries in South Asia. (BACSA).

How to get there:

“ Resource for London” is a light airy building designed especially for Charities like us. It is in London ‘s Holloway Road some 25 yards south of the junction with Tollington Road and next to Waitrose. It is close to Holloway Road Underground Station (Two stops north of King ‘s Cross).
